Began attending the Academy in the summer of 2000.
Martial Arts history:
In 1994, at the age of 14, Sempai Chanda began training
Kenpo karate at American Kenpo Karate Studio in Andorra,
Philadelphia. In Jan. of 1996, she received her green
belt. While studying there she received a Spirit Award,
given to a person "who best represents the true
martial artist". Chanda began participating in
tournaments and received many 1st and 2nd place trophies
in Kata and Kumite divisions. From 1996 to 1997, she
was on the independent tournament team Adrenaline. At
Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ Chanda was a member
of the Rutgers' karate tournament team, competing with
local colleges. In the summer of 2000, she began studying
TaiKenJu-Ryu, an American freestyle martial art, with
Sensei Bill. Through hard work and dedication, she advanced
quickly to her purple belt. In January 2001, she was
promoted to Sempai Green belt by Professor Ronald
K. Bennett of WDOB. In April of 2001, Chanda began
teaching the beginner/intermediate classes. She also
produces the school newsletter. Chanda currently holds
the rank of Brown Belt 2nd Kyu, and is working toward
her black belt.
About Me:
Chanda attends Temple University in Philadelphia. She
is in the Honors Political Science program, with a minor
in Urban Studies. She retains a 3.9 G.P.A. and has two
semesters left for her Bachelor's Degree. Chanda is
22 years old. |
